Johnny Depp has reportedly signed on the fifth 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie amid revelations that he has earned a whopping $ 350 million pounds from the franchise so far.
The 48-year-old actor is reported to have negotiated a 'cash break' deal that guarantees he shares in the profits of the hugely successful film franchise, reported Daily Mail.
With the four previous films taking over $ 3 billion at the box office, Depp's deal means he has earned close to $ 350m for his part of swashbuckling Captain Jack Sparrow. The pay deal puts his streaks ahead of any other Hollywood star who appeared in a film franchise.
The latest Pirates film 'On Stranger Tides' is the most successful film of the year so far and has taken over $ 1 billion at the worldwide box office.
Depp, as the lead character in the Disney production, also enjoys millions in payments from sales of DVDs and merchandising such as Jack Sparrow dolls.
The actor has been driving huge box office success for Disney for close to a decade. He first appeared in 'Pirates of the Caribbean' in 2003 when the film was an instant hit and
took over $ 650 million at the box office.
The sequels in 2006, 2007 and this year took almost double that amount as the popularity of the films grew.
