Dolly Parton wears high heels at home because she can’t reach her kitchen cabinets without them.
The diminutive 4’ 11’’ singer is famous for her heavily made up appearance and although the 65-year-old star favors a more casual look at home, she can’t survive without her stilettos.
“If you saw me at home you’d recognize me but I don’t have all the gaud, though I usually wear high heels because I’m so short I can’t even reach the kitchen cabinets without them,” she said.
However, Dolly would never consider leaving her home in Tennessee without her trademark heavy make-up or one of her famous wigs.
“I always put on my make-up, my hair and my clothes to go shopping,” she added.
While Dolly has previously admitted to taking style tips from a prostitute, she is still shocked by the provocative clothing worn by younger pop stars.
“I’m amazed at some of the things they get away with but I was outrageous before they were even born,” she said.
“I understand where they’re coming from. You feel more on the inside than you look on the outside so if you’re not a natural beauty you’re going to have to make yourself look the way you think.”
